Background
Working from the ground up in Logistics; I started with Purolator in 2006 as Retail Support & CSR. By 2008 I took on a role as dedicated support for Purolator's largest customer before taking on a temporary management role in 2011. Changing focus from traditional Management, I moved to Purolator's LTL division. As the Atlantic LTL Coordinator I worked directly with internal and external stakeholders, as well as managing couriers, to ensure on-time pickup and delivery of LTL shipments across the Atlantic provinces.
Logistics, Processes, Data: Graybar Canada
As Graybar's national logistics specialist since 2013, I have been responsible for overseeing freight spend across all of Graybar's Canadian operations.
With an intense focus on data analytics, the role requires me to:
- Analyze freight patterns and ensure all lanes are priced appropriately.
- Review carrier data and invoices for on-time performance, billing accuracy, and pricing discrepancies.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement operational efficiencies in our shipping practices.
In addition to the rigorous data analytics and process management, this role also requires me to manage carrier relationships and negotiate the best possible rates. Due to the fluid nature of both Graybar's and Courier businesses, change is a daily factor in selecting the best option - especially with today's high fuel costs driving massive fuel surcharges on shipping.
As Graybar's products range in size and value from the very small to very large; the position also requires me to coordinate special transport requirements for high-value shipments of various sizes - ranging from small shipments to full trailer loads, container ships, and cargo aircraft.
